customers flocking in for a
mouth watering treat.
Proving a big hit with custom-
ers, Gusto owners Rhiannon Nix
and Francesco Laera certainly have
the right recipe for success.
They have built on their success-
ful Trulli Woodfire Pizzeria estab-
lished in Meeniyan in 2012 and the
Gusto Gelateria and Pastry Shop they
opened in Inverloch in 2015.
Now they are sharing their wonder-
ful range of delicious gelato with the
The big thing going for Rhiannon
and Francesco is that they are keeping
it fresh and local.
That means only the freshest and
best will do, from the ingredients in
all their homemade woodfired pizzas,
to their divine creamy gelato, pastries
Their wonderful team of some 35
staff are mostly local, save for their
Italian staff including pastry chef Luca
who comes from the areas of Rome
and Venice, and Francesco, who brings
with him a wealth of traditional Ital-
ian cooking from the southern region

“We have had some great comments from lo-
cals who are thrilled they can just walk up the
street and have their favourite gelati without hav-
ing to drive to Inverloch,” she said.
When The Star visited last Thursday, there
was indeed a steady stream of locals and holiday-
makers ‘oohing and aahing’ at the fabulous look-
ing creamy icecream treats.
And let there be no mistake that gelati is
just the Italian word for icecream, but there is a
distinct difference, and that is gelati is so much
nicer and is served at a higher temperature than
icecream, making it a whole lot more creamy and
Gusto Gelati is undoubtedly heaven in a cone
and some of the sensational flavours include
Lemon Tart, Salty Peanut, Chocolate Hazelnut
and Sticky Date Pudding.
Rhiannon said the menu is constantly chang-
ing. So while mango is walking out the door at
present, this will be replaced with another excit-
ing flavour when summer ends.
It is also nice to know people with special di-
etary needs are well catered for too, with most of
the range being gluten free. There are also egg,
dairy and nut free choices.
With Australia Day fast approaching, you may
want to indulge in the patriotic Pavola gelati and

For those looking for a great way to celebrate
Australia Day on January 26, Trulli Woodfire Piz-
